A DREAM?

Here are seven more sentences from my current work! ENJOY! My heroine just wants to get a good night's sleep.

Sasha napped intermittently for a couple hours more on Viktor’s bed, when suddenly his voice broke to her through the peaceful void of sleep. She jerked to attention; somehow he had issued another command to her, the same as he had about the basement. Only this time he informed her that she should not enter the orchard again tonight.

Her eyes popped open and her neck muscles bristled at the memory of his order in her dream. After a moment her brow smoothed and she exhaled a frustrated breath. Relax. It was just a dream. It had to have been a dream.

Do you think it was a dream?

It's Seven suspenseful Sentence Sunday!

Seven more sentences from my work in progress. Enjoy!

The sense of heartache diminished with her confirmation. The trees again revealed their true untarnished beauty to her. As she watched, the location magically morphed into one that took her breath away. A lone star twinkled in the far distance of the sky. In its glow, the bare branches came alive. The dusting of snow that covered them shimmered brilliantly.
In the time-lapse of a moment, she sensed something lurked behind one of the trees.

Suspenseful Seven Sentence Sunday!

Here are another seven sentences from my wip!

Her sweet unconscious persuasion weakened Viktor's determination to remain detached from her. Enfeebled, yet still in control of himself, he lowered his head and nibbled affectionately on the captivating soft skin of her neckline. Viktor so longed to seduce her. He yearned to confess his true feelings for her. I must end this pretense I do not care for her. Little did he know. It would end tonight.

What do you think is going to happen "tonight"?

Another Suspenseful Seven Sentence Sunday!

This is another excerpt from my wip of last Sunday. In this one, my heroine, Sasha, has just spent the night ALONE in a scary old building. Her night did not go without happenstance. These are her thoughts about the events. Enjoy your Read!

Now, wait a minute here, Sash. You didn't sleep last night, and you only had a short, unplanned nap this afternoon. This place is dark and intimidating, and you know about your imagination! This huge old estate is full of image inducing shadows for it to play upon you with. You obviously saw some object silhouetted in the gathering darkness. Your mind played a trick on you. It's as simple as that.

Valerie stiffened at the memory!

Valerie stiffened at the memory. With everything in her, she fought the distraction of her repressed memory. She trembled and fought to remain calm. On top of everything else, she needed to ignore the rage. It always surged within her when her childhood memory bared its ugly head. The strength of her remembered emotion severed any further chance at connection she might have achieved with the little boy at this time. But she needed to try.

more suspense from my Current Work!

This, too, is from my wip!

He remained where he sat in center stage. His cocky surety drew up the vision of one she had known, quite intimately, before. In some other time. In some other place. Her insides grew queasy with the unknown memory while her heart did back flips in eager anticipation.

Alexander knew her. He had to.

A Suspenseful Man of Mystery!

The man speaking is part of my wip. :))

I am glad that you have decided to visit. I have been awaiting you.”
“How did you know it was me outside just now?” she asked.
“I sensed your approach.”
"Sensed?" she shivered. “You ‘sensed’ my approach?”
He nodded and explained, “It is a part of my ability.”

A VERY Suspenseul 7!

Hey All!
My Suspenseful 7 Sentence Sunday blog today has nothing to do with anything I’m writing. It’s about the end of the world that happened yesterday. How many of us were raptured? None; you say? That’s probably because none of us know the exact time or day of its occurrence. It will happen sometime; we just don’t know when. Isn’t that suspenseful enough?!

Since we haven’t seen the Second Advent yet, please be sure to check out what the rest of us Suspenseful 7 Sentencers have written, here http://www.suspenseful7ss.blogspot.com or at the link above!

I Survived the Haunted Castle!!

Manresa Castle, located in picturesque Port Townsend, Washington is a treasure to behold. Upon entering the castle for my Olympia RWA chapter’s writer’s retreat, I found myself in another time. Everything in the castle (besides the contemporary necessities) is from the era of the castle’s original splendor.

I loved the castle’s antique atmosphere, but what I really wanted to experience were the ghosts that the castle is famous for! There are tales of the young woman who cast herself from a castle window, to her death, when she heard that her fiancé had been drowned at sea. Then there’s the tale of the Jesuit priest who hanged himself in a castle turret after he became disillusioned with his calling. And there’s the little girl who wanders the hall. Perhaps she is looking for a playmate?

On our first night there, we took a tour of each other’s rooms to see what they looked like because each of the bedrooms in Manresa is different. (Well, I guess that’s why the rest of us toured the rooms. Me? I was looking for a ghost!) In one two bed bedroom, two beautiful antique chairs sat facing the beds’ feet. I mentioned the ghosts who could be sitting there to watch the bed’s occupant during the night and I was told by Chassily, the room’s sole occupant due to circumstances beyond her control, that she did not want to talk to me any more! LOL! We even toured the tower where the priest is said to have hung himself!

That first night in our bedroom I was awakened by what I assumed was a ghost and I mentioned it to my boyfriend. He didn’t say anything and went back to sleep. The nerve! But I wasn’t frightened and lay there listening. First the ghost made clacking sounds outside the bedroom window. I got up to look out the window, but of course there was no one there. Then the ghost went out into the hall outside our bedroom and began to play out there! I assumed it was the little girl playing with things that made clacking sounds. And then I went back to sleep. When I shared my fun story with the rest of our chapter the next day, my boyfriend had the gall to tell everyone that the ghosts got quieter each time he turned the heater down! He NEVER turned the heater down! (To my knowledge.)

There was one friendly spirit who insinuated her presence there in front of us all. A small piece of paper with her name on it fell to the floor from one of our chapter president's paperwork to remind us of her. She was Elizabeth Kistler, a past chapter member who died of cancer last year. On that sign, we named our annual retreat after her.

The weekend went much quieter after my first night there and I learned a lot and got a lot of writing done. I received some excellent critique from Nicole on a contest entry that I was fighting a deadline on and I met the deadline with it!

They were there! I know it! But I didn’t see any ghosts.

It was CLAY!!

My bf and I attended a Wine Pairing Dinner last night. All went well until I asked said bf to check, with his cell that has all kinds of fun attachments on it, and see if any ghosts were present. It did detect one ghost who told us, via said cell, that his name was “Clay.” Needless to say, Clay decided that he would choose me to pick on all night.

At the beginning of the evening, while we enjoyed our scrumptious meal and the tasty wines delivered with each portion of it, Clay was well mannered and did not bother me. With three small glasses in front of me, I decided which wine was my favorite and set it aside to enjoy last. I sipped down the other two glasses and reached for the third, and that’s when Clay decided to step into my evening.

The glass I looked for, which had been sitting directly in front of me, was gone! (Not to say that I had already drank it and had forgotten, because everyone else at the table noticed too.) It was the neighbor sitting beside me who first noted that it had been Clay who had taken it. I promptly agreed that she was probably right and went back to my meal.

It was when I had finished my dinner that I noticed the empty glass that had been missing had returned to its place on the table and was empty! I pointed it out to everyone else, who enjoyed Clay’s prank.

I hope Clay enjoyed his glass of Sherry.

I Don't Know What Happened!

My Christmas Star pictures are GONE!! I saw them after I took them, so I know that they once existed, but now I have looked everywhere for them, and They Are GONE! I have looked on my digital camera and they are not there. I have looked on my phone camera, and they are also not there!

There is only one possible explanation; there WERE ghosts in the underground of Seattle! I may not have seen him, but he followed me up and Took My Pictures from me!
And it was such a Beautiful Star. . .

Going Underground!

While neglecting my writing during this holiday season, I went on an adventure in Seattle this past week, along with my visiting niece and her boyfriend. Of course, being the paranormal writer that I am, Seattle’s haunted underground sucked us under the city’s streets.

It was all very interesting, but we saw no ghosts, and that was very disappointing. I took lots of digital pictures, which are supposed to be able to pick up spiritual essences, but none showed their presences to me. One showed its smiling face to me, but it was actually my niece behind an old window!

But the ghosts have not lost a believer! They were all probably too shy to make an appearance because it was in the middle of the day and there was a whole tour group there at the same time as I was; too much disbelief energy going on. But Hey! All was not lost! I got a shot of a beautiful Christmas star that is posted here on my site!

I’m always on the hunt! Those from other dimensions continue to populate my stories! And my visit to the Haunted Castle is coming up next month!

And speaking of Manresa Castle, my company visited there on a little self-guided tour of the state and got a picture of one! They got the picture of it in the doorway to a room and it followed them outside where they snapped another picture of it! (Personally, I believe the “ghost” they got a picture of was her boyfriend.) LOL!

You can Believe It, Or Not!! And that is your question of the day! Are you a believer of ghostly phenomena like I am?!

Scarier Than A Ghost!!

What’s scarier than ghosts?! Missing Data; that’s what! I am working on the final chapters of my work that I plan on submitting ASAP and I was just finishing the very end of one of those chapters and POOF! It was All Gone! That was very exciting in a very scary way if you ask me!

Now, I’m not a techno wizard, and I just received an HP Mini Notebook for my birthday from my bf and it’s always doing stuff that I’m not expecting! But wiping my monitor clean of a WHOLE Chapter is a first!

Luckily for me, my bf, who IS a techno wizard (at least a good deal more than me), was sitting by my side, so he reaped the benefit of my harried few moments of anxiety. LOL! (Now I can laugh about it, but at the time …) Of course, he found it and brought it all back up on screen for me and I was able to finish up and SAVE it! He also put an icon on my machine so I can fix it if that ever happens again!

How about you? Have you ever had anything techno or otherwise happen to you that you thought was scarier than a ghost?!

more on that Haunted Castle!

Remember that blog I posted last week about the Haunted Castle that my RWA chapter is going to have a Writer’s Retreat at?!

It’s Manresa Castle in Port Townsend, Washington, and on the night of September 28, 2010, I watched an article about the Castle on the MOST TERRIFYING PLACES IN AMERICA TV show!!! It’s a most Terrifying Place in America!! There's a little girl, a grieving young woman, and a man there!! (all dead, of course) This is going to be an Exciting Retreat!!

A Haunted Castle!

Sometime during the next few months my RWA chapter is going to have a Writer’s Retreat and it’s going to be in a Haunted Castle here in Washington!

I am so excited about that. It’s going to be so much fun! This especially has me so thrilled because since when the subject first came up and we began to discuss it on our email loop and at meetings, I believed that because of financial reasons, I would NOT BE ABLE TO GO. That was a real bummer.

BUT, (there’s always a “but,” right?) LOL! BUT, since some of the others had mentioned that they might bring a husband or significant other along for the weekend (provided they were not high-maintenance), I decided to mention it to my current boyfriend. He took one look at the castle information and said, “I’m in.”

YAY! He is going to help me with the costs for the weekend, and I CAN GO!!

He’s no stranger to ghosts and sightings. Once he saw one WHERE HE WORKS! His experience is this: He told me that he saw a man he had never seen before walk through a doorway, where there WAS NO DOOR! (Trust me; my boyfriend is the Straightest man alive!)

I figure that he can go Ghost Hunting while I’m doing writer things.
