Life is Good!
My momma has settled in to the new Care Center I transferred her to, here near me, and I get to spend almost every day with her!
I went to my RWA chapter’s Christmas luncheon today and found out I won the annual Lucy award – named after the illustrious Lucy Monroe – for my year’s accomplishments, and I also received a NICE pen set for my first published novel this year.
The novella I published this year is FATED, the first novella in my romantic fantasy trilogy, CONNECTIONS.
The second novella, CONNED, will be out later this month.
The third novella, INFORMED, which will also wrap up loose ends and see the travels and travails of CONNECTIONS’ main characters come to a glorious end, is expected to be released in January, 2014.
My publisher is Books To Go Now! My books are available there and are also available at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other etailers.
2013 has been a good year for me. I hope it’s been good for you, too!

Party On with the Chocolate Prize offered Here Today!
Hi All! I am delighted to be a part of BOOKS TO GO NOW’s Monthly party at the Goddess Fish Party Pavilion! Thank you for inviting me, BTGN!
Everyone who participates and completes the rafflecopter on my blog will be entered for a chance at a Gift Certificate for CHOCOLATE!! YUM!
ENJOY!
And now I’m going to tell you about the trilogy, which is my Debut Release!
We all know there is someone out there for each of us, but some of us never make that connection with our intended ‘other’ and achieve the happily ever after meant for us. Imagine if we did!
Think about if we were given more than one chance - in separate lifetimes - to connect with that someone, until we finally made that Happily Ever After connection? The CONNECTIONS Trilogy is such a story!
FATED, the 1st book in the trilogy, is already out in digital and print formats at Amazon and in eBook at other digital etailers. This novella follows Valerie Baldwin, who is a barren 17th century woman, and Alecksander Stone, in their spiritual search for each other.
In this chance at their connection, he is a witch-hunter with great magical powers, and she is a suspected witch, because of empathic abilities she possesses. A little boy’s orphaned soul follows them, in search of parents.
Will the curse, which pursues them, allow their connection? Will he see her prosecuted as a witch? What will happen to the little parentless soul?
CONNED, the trilogy’s second CONNECTIONS book, is expected out in late December 2013 in both digital and print formats at the same distributors as the first.
In this second novella of the Trilogy, Valerie and Alecksander’s incarnations meet again in the American Northwest of the 19th century. This time they seem to know more about each other than they did at their first meeting in the 17th century American colonies. Neither remembers their previous lifetimes with any clarity.
In CONNED, he is an 18th century con man with supernatural abilities, and Valerie is a childless school marm who loves “her children” to a fault. She especially cares about a little boy who has no family of his own.
As in their previous co-existence, neither of the two adults trusts the other. Regardless of what her inner voice tells her about how she should feel toward Alecksander, Valerie must protect “her children” from the untrustworthy con artist in town. Alecksander too, harbors an unfamiliar warmth toward the young school marm, whom he finds quite attractive.
Will what they each sense about the other in this lifetime, be enough to foster trust between them and ensure their intended connection? What will happen to the orphaned little boy?
INFORMED is the final book in this trilogy. This novella takes place in both contemporary and medieval times. The childless contemporary Valerie still works with and cares for children, this time as a Social Service Worker. Alecksander continues to be a masterful magician who entertains the masses with his gifted skills. Their spirits still seek connection, but their mortal minds do not.
With all the knowledge gained in their subconscious minds, and with the new-age approaches that are offered to them in the modern world, Valerie and Alecksander at last learn about the curse that has followed them through time, and which causes their inexplicable unhappiness.
Through past-life regression, they embark on a search through the ages – onto the earth of the middle ages - to end the curse so they will be able to let down their defenses against each other. But the evil, which lurks in the past, is an evil far greater than Alecksander’s celebrated supernatural abilities.
In the inevitable clash which ensues between good and evil, only one will survive. Through gifts of her own, Valerie and the boy - Scotty – intrude on the medieval scene of battle between the two great wizards. Now it is three against one, but the two latter attendants possess no significant power of their own - or do they?
Will the good in Alecksander’s powers defeat the evil pitted against him for the benefit of himself and his two companions? Will they be able to defeat it as a team? Will the two adults achieve their necessary growth in the ability to trust and love each other?
Will the parentless child’s soul, who has followed them through all their lifetimes, finally find his family with them? Will they all, at last, be gifted with eternal happiness, or be destroyed at the hands of the great evil which lies in the existence of their past?
I hope you all enjoy my three book Love Story about soul-mates who are cursed to travel through time in search of their CONNECTIONS. This romantic/historical/paranormal/fantasy is sure to entertain and delight you with all its “almosts” and its thoughts of “what if.”
FATED, the first in the CONNECTIONS Trilogy is available now through Amazon (in digital and paperback), my publisher at bookstogonow.com, Barnes & Noble, and most other etailers.

Romance through the mists of time and Love through the dimensions of reality
Scotty has VANISHED!
Hi All!
I'm taking a break from my usual seven from my work in progress. Today I have decided to share an excerpt from CONNED, the 2nd in my trilogy. CONNECTIONS. CONNED is expected to be published sometime in December 2013. A beloved child has disappeared here. ENJOY!
Valerie cut him off before he could say more. “I do not want to hear any more of your excuses. You came here to talk to me about Scotty. Where is he?” she demanded.
“That’s what I want to know,” he slung back at her. “The reason I have not seen him is because of what I know about you.”
She widened her eyes and stared at him in question. “And what is it you know about me?”
He held a finger up between them; in point of his explanation. “You’ve convinced him not to visit with me, under your delusion of my dishonesty.”
Valerie cocked her head back and raised her eyebrows. “My ’delusion’?”
Alecksander swept his hand across her desk in front of her. “Enough about our differences. I haven’t seen the boy for about a week now. That is not like him.” He quirked an eyebrow at her. “Regardless of the stories you have told him about me.”
Valerie’s vision blurred and she forgot about her troubles with Alecksander. Her heart fisted in a distinct sensation of panic. Tears from her fear threatened to overflow her eyelids. “He hasn’t been here with me - in class - for a week, either,” she replied in a quiet breath. “I thought he was with you.”
He noded. “And I, you.”
She thought back to the last time she saw Scotty. “The last time I saw him, he was on his way to the other tent you erected.”
Alecksander’s eyes opened further. “‘The ‘other tent’?”
“Yes. The one you raised on the opposite end of Copper Run from where you first set up your place of magic.”
Alecksander’s narrowed eyes shot her a negative expression. “That was not my tent,” he enunciated.
The hair on the nape of Valerie’s neck rose. “It wasn’t?” she half-whispered.
“No, ma’am.” He gripped her hands on the desk. “You must tell me all you know.”
Though the warmth of his hands kindled her fires, Valerie narrowed her eyes in renewed suspicion. “How can I be sure I can trust you on this?”
Alecksander shrugged. “Given your prejudgment of me, I guess you can’t, but would I come here looking for him if I were the one who caused his disappearance?”
His words struck a chord. They sounded logical to Valerie. She took a deep breath and her heart slowed with her admittance, she agreed, but still she disagreed, “No. I guess not.”
In spite of the conviction in his words, she still found herself unable to give him her total trust. But Scotty’s welfare came first and she would need Alecksander’s help. She swallowed back her unease and asked, “What should we do?”
Alecksander stepped away from her desk and kneaded his chin, as if deep in meditation. “Tell me about the last time you saw him,” he requested without a look toward her, while he paced the schoolroom’s floor.
As if something new came to her mind, Valerie sprang to a menacing life-form from behind her insubstantial piece of school furniture. It consisted of nothing more than a plank across two crudely constructed supports. Her gaze could have pierced holes through Alecksander’s body as it moved back and forth in front of her. “The excited child was skipping with joy in the direction of your,” her finger jabbed at him, “new tent. That’s when I ‘last saw him.’”
The magician stopped and stared back at her. “I told you, the canvassed show-room you saw did not belong to me.”
“Then whose was it?” she demanded.
Rather than argue, he gazed askance and changed the subject. “Where did you see this ‘new tent’?”
Valerie led him out onto the school’s front porch and pointed to the empty space at the end of town, which existed in opposition of Alecksander’s tent site. His awesome creation still stood where he first placed it. “It was right down there,” she informed him.
Alecksander did not take the time to listen to another word from her. He turned and vacated her presence before she had time to finish her words. His quick pace took him in the direction she pointed out to him. Curious as to his rapid departure, Valerie followed him at a slow jog. Her speedy small steps matched his swift long steps.
Alecksander came to a sudden stop and pointed to the ground at his feet. “It was here?” he asked when he reached his destination just a few footsteps ahead of her.
“Yes,” Valerie panted after him as she caught up, careful not to bump into him.
He engaged in a slow methodical walk around the site she indicated, as if he measured it with his steps. His gaze seemed to encompass everything – and nothing. In the area’s center, he stopped and closed his eyes in a silent moment of meditation she remembered from before.
The dire expression on his face, when he turned it back to Valerie, chilled her blood. “What?”
“We must find Scotty.”
Her heart raced in terror. “I know that, but why the sudden stark and serious change in your attitude?”
“The essence in the air of this place tells me I know, or have known who occupied the tent’s brief passage through our time.” His eyes bore into her in with a degree of seriousness she’d never before known. “The weight of the dominate aura here also tells me how serious our mission is.”
Valerie’s gut knotted – her throat constricted - at the sense of consequence in Alecksander’s words. “How do you know that?” she managed.
Chapter Thirty Four
His vision tightened its grip on her trembling body. “You know how I know, but you refuse to accept it. At times I know the future; at other times I know the past.”
Valerie gave him a side glance with slightly skewed eyebrows.
He went on without pause, “I possess the ability to know what is, what has been, and what is meant to be.”
As in our intended destinies. Valerie cupped her hands together in an effort to still the sudden increase in her pulse. “What do you know about this?” She had little breath for her next words, “Will this person you speak of, or has he already, hurt Scotty?”
Alecksander’s gaze released her and his expression softened in frustration. “That I do not know. But the one who has him is evil and his power is great. He intends us harm and seeks to forever be between us.”
Valerie’s face paled. “Goodness.”
His more serious nature returned. “Yes. ‘Goodness’ is what we will need, in order to overcome the evil that has sought us out.”
meanwhile, in another dimension inside the new tent -
Scotty blinked and rubbed his eyes. He turned around and around in a circle, his arms angled downward at his sides – palms opened. Nothing looked the same as he expected to see in his friend’s, the magician’s, tent. Where am I? Not a thing about this place he found himself in made any sense to him.
The walls, which encircled him warped in and out. It seemed to him they breathed. He fidgeted and pulled his clothes away from his body. They stuck to him in the sticky heat of the sudden humidity. His efforts brought him little comfort.
Every movement he attempted to make agonized him to accomplish. He found his balance difficult to maintain. Then a pair of green eyes glowed into his presence. Scotty’s blood froze at their sight. The little boy closed his eyes; he turned his head; but he could not avoid their observation. He fought his sluggishness with tiny flexed muscles, and rubbed his eyes as he tried to wake up from his nightmare.
“Do not fight it. You are where I want you.”
The little boy’s pained heart cowered at the ethereal answer to his strife, but he would not be threatened. “Who are you?” his strong, but small, voice asked.
“I am your friend, Alecksander,” the mysterious voice replied.
“You are?” Scotty called out in confusion. It doesn’t sound like Mr. Alecksander. “Are you sure?” The end of the tent exploded into a barrage of flames and smoke. “Yes!” the voice thundered.
Scotty jumped back in surprise. He held a defensive hand up in front of his face. “I didn’t mean to make you mad, Sir!”
“You haven’t,” a shadowed figure stated in a much more human voice as it emerged from within the vapors of smoke.
Scotty froze and stared wide-eyed at the figure as it approached him.
“We are going to do something new today,” the unknown man informed him.
The voice smothered the boy’s desire to escape.
outside Copper Run-
Alecksander took Valerie by the arm and drug her along as he began quick steps back toward the school house. She stumbled along beside him. “What are you doing? Where are we going?”
“I am taking you home.”
“What? Why? You can’t do that! We need to find Scotty.”
“You ‘need’ to be safe in your home. I need to find the boy.”
“But what will you do?”
“Something.”
“Let me help you do ‘something’,” she insisted when they reached her door.
“No. Here is the best place for you.”
Valerie opened her mouth to further protest, but he stopped her with an upheld hand. “You must remember your other students. You should also be here in case Scotty returns to school.”
An upswing of hope thrilled through Valerie’s upper chest and throat. The sensation gave her a sense of new optimism. She nodded. “You’re right. I should wait here. You will let me know your progress?”
“Yes.”
She placed her hands on Alecksander’s breast. “Please. Be careful.”
Alecksander turned back toward the spot where Valerie last saw Scotty. That went well. Now that she has agreed to stay out of the way, I can continue with my plans . . . uninterrupted.

Excerpt:
She'd just placed another call through to Pemsky's office, which went straight to his voicemail, when the office door opened. Halo smiled and looked up into dreamy, gold-flecked green eyes, short sandy brown hair, a slight cleft chin, and full lips set in a hard line. Even with the stern look he had on his face, my hormones jumped into overdrive.
Mr. Dreamy cleared his throat—she must've been staring. In her most professional voice she said, "Good morning. How may I help you?"
He removed a piece of paper from his shirt pocket and unfolded the sheet.
"I was parked in front of the Beacon Hill Ale House and my driver's side mirror was sideswiped by one of Pemsky's Security's SUV's Friday night."
Halo loved the Beacon Hill Ale House. Every Saturday night the Ale House allowed local bands to jam together. That's where she'd met her last loser boyfriend. She'd had a lot of loser boyfriends. She's currently on a hiatus from dating, but she wouldn't mind jumping back into the dating game for this dream-boat.
He handed her the piece of paper.
"I wasn't able to get a look at the driver, but I got the license plate number of the vehicle that hit my car and drove away."
He emphasized the last part.
"I'm very sorry about your car. I'm sure Mr. Pemsky will be happy to cover the damage." Halo checked the company log and Pemsky's name popped up as the driver—she gulped.

Excerpt:
December 2013
The weather forecast for the Western Washington area, specifically North Seattle, predicted a good five-to-six inches of snow. Brenda Houser watched the flakes float like cotton balls from the sky as she dipped a tortilla chip into a bowl of thick and chunky salsa and popped the morsel into her mouth.
Her boss, Corny Myers, tapped her pencil on Brenda's reception desk to the beat of The Little Drummer Boy, which streamed from the Green Hornet Investigations Bose speakers.
"Hey, Brenda. I have bad eating habits but I've never started the day with chips and salsa. What's up?" Corny asked.
"You know how I feel about all the holiday hoopla. I'd rather stick my head in the sand and pull it back out in January."
"Do you really think Mexican food is going to make you feel better?"
"Probably not, but a couple margaritas might help."

When Tennyson’s boyfriend left her for her best friend from high-school, all Tennyson received in the break up was her dog. She’s sworn off men and now is rebuilding her life. The only thing Par does is work. He barely has time to do anything he wants for himself other than take his dog to the dog park. When Par and Tennyson find an abandoned dog at the park named Duke. Will they find room in their hearts to take him in? And can this Christmas season weave some special magic for the two of them?
Book Excerpt:
“I’m happy this wasn’t your worst date ever, because I had a great time.” He lifted her chin with the tips of his finger. Slowly he lowered his head until she thought she would die of anticipation. He clamped his hands to her waist and gazed into her eyes. “You’re so beautiful…” There was depth and sincerity in the tone of his voice. She felt special. Desired. He dropped his head and kissed her.
Gentle at first and then deep. She couldn’t breathe. He’d sucked all the air from her lungs, but there was no way she wanted him to stop. As she brushed his firm lips to hers, she relished the feel of her blood simmering in her veins. Par slid his fingers through her long hair to cradle and position her head to kiss her even more thoroughly.
His lips pulled away from hers and he stepped back. She reached for the roof of the car to steady herself. Oh. My. God… could this man kiss.
“Not bad for a first date,” he whispered and then kissed her gently again.
Okay… so it was a date. After that kiss it turned into an ‘official date’ and she had no regrets at all.

Julian Barrows has his hands full working full time and being a single dad to his kindergarten, special needs son, Gabe. Gabe’s teacher convinces Julian he doesn’t need to do everything on his own and introduces him to a seizure dog trainer, Hanna Acker.
Hanna and her sister grew up without any ‘Christmas Cheer’. She’s trying to get her sister through college and doesn’t have time to let anyone too close, especially the handsome single dad with a kid.
But, Christmas has a way of changing what we thought we wanted… especially when Santa and an adorable four-legged ‘elf’ are involved.
Book Excerpt:
“What’s this?” Hanna asked, as she ran a hand over the grocery bag wrapping paper. Julian took her coat and hung it by the door so she could follow Gabe into the living room.
“Daddy saw this in a store window and said that we had to get it for you. Open it!” Gabe said. “I wrapped it myself,” he added proudly.
“But it’s not Christmas.”
“No. This is a before Christmas gift. You have to open it now.”
She pulled off a half-pound of scotch tape and finally the paper fell away. Hanna stared at the gift in disbelief. “A Christmas sock… with my name on it.”
Julian came up behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist. “You told me that you’d never had a Christmas stocking of your own when you were growing up. Gabe knew Santa wouldn’t know where you were if you didn’t have you sock hung somewhere.” He winked. “So you needed it.”
“You can take it to your home or you can hang it here!” Gabe shouted almost tripping over Cody.

Book Title: Halo's Wish (Book one in the Dreams Come True Series)
Author: Sharon Kleve
Publisher: Books to Go Now
Genre: Contemporary Christmas Romance
Release Date: 9.13.2013
Length: 50 pages
Heat Rating: Sweet
Book Blurb:
Halo Ann Carlyle wishes for a home, family, and a boat-load of pets. What she gets is a bruised hip, a lump on the head, a broken ankle, and her new yellow Honda Civic is demolished.
Rich McFarland, a sexy veterinarian, keeps showing up in the most unexpected places, promising everything she's ever wanted.
Halo believes she only has time to pursue her career as a pet detective and must ignore her growing attraction to achieve her dreams.
Will Halo trust her heart, and find a way to get both for Christmas?

Book Title: Brenda’s Christmas Desire (Book two in the Dreams Come True Series)
Author: Sharon Kleve
Publisher: Books to Go Now
Genre: Contemporary Christmas Romance
Release Date: 11.20.2013
Length: 50 pages
Heat Rating: Sweet
Book Blurb:
Like any child Brenda Howser loved Christmas until her parents were killed by a drunk driver during their annual shopping trip.
Brenda went to live with her aunt, who blamed their death on everything that represented Christmas; the gifts, the tree, and all the decorations.
The festivities' Brenda once cherished became something she dreaded under the shadow of her parents death. She lived in fear of something happening to the people she loved during Christmas.
Christmas approaches and Brenda has to decide if she’s going to let the past hold her prisoner for another year or if she can finally enjoy what Christmas used to mean to her—love.
DEA agent, John Smith knows the significance of December fifteenth to Brenda, but when the head of the Nuevo Cartel escapes federal prison he's forced to let her face the day without him, but not quite alone.
Can Daisy, a golden Labrador puppy, a huge sale on decorations at the hardware store, and a gift from her aunt restore her love of Christmas?

A Gargoyle!
Hi All!
Here are 7 more sentences from my current work, a Romantic paranormal, to keep you in suspense until its release! ENJOY!
The nerves in Sasha’s ears flinched forward. His words peaked her curiosity. "Where did you find that scroll you speak of?"
He appeared to her as if he endeavored to take a deep breath, but he did not. "I traveled extensively during my young-adulthood. During one such adventure I found myself exploring a castle in Europe. The scroll was hidden within a Gargoyle."
Please tell me what you think of this Week’s suspenseful 7. I look forward to hearing from you!

Spotlight on Angel's Code by H.A. Somerled!
Tawny adjusted her breasts in the lacy black bra she wore under the scoop neck red blouse to create maximum cleavage, then puckered her lips to her reflection in the mirror. She’d grown tired of the crowd at Yorkshire Grey pub, and decided, in her drunken haze to go find the classmate from her web design class. Her crush, she found out, lived in the flat directly above the bar. She took one last glance at herself in the restroom mirror and fluffed up her auburn hair. She looked like sex personified.
“Danny Murray,” she said to her reflection, “tonight is your lucky night.”
-Excerpt from Angel's Code
Angel’s Code is an exciting romp through the seedy world of cyber crime. Based in London, the story revolves around Danny Murray and his introduction into the hacker lifestyle.
Danny is a young, bored web design student at Birkbeck College, who dreams of becoming more than just an IT guy. He wants to make a mark on the world, and releases a prank virus, attracting the attention of internationally renown hacker, “The Fallen Angel.”
Angel agrees to teach the young Danny the ways of the hacker, but his online skills are not the ones in need of refining.
The only setback Danny has is his older brother, Oliver Murray, who has just been promoted head inspector of the cyber crime division for London’s Metropolitan Police. Oliver feels it is his main duty to keep Danny away from the mysterious, and dangerous Angel.
However, when the tables are turned and Oliver is the one in need of rescuing, will the skills Danny learned from Angel be enough to save his brother from Cyber Terrorist Ahmed Eid?
I'd like to introduce you to Danny.
Danny Murray
Danny has had a hard life. Well at least in his eyes. He watched his mother die from cancer. At a time where he should have been coming into his own, he watched his mother waste away from disease, and his father pull away from reality, consumed by his own grief. His older brother, Oliver, was stationed in Afghanistan - a hot shot terrorist interrogator, couldn’t come home to be with the family during this heartbreaking crisis, or wouldn’t come home. It was a betrayal Danny vowed he would never forgive Oliver for.
Danny began to act out. Drinking, partying, and petty crime. After his mother succumbed to the disease, and Oliver returned from war, Danny was enrolled into Birkbeck College’s technology program, the only course that Oliver could talk him into. Danny enjoyed computers, but not the thought of being an IT guy, nor the idea of working a boring 9-5 job.
What he really wants to do is cyber hacking. On his own he works on a virus, which he releases, attracting Angel’s attention.
Danny is a regular mid twenties guy, looking for the next adventure, party or hook-up. He is a brilliant code writer, with a penchant for mischief. His humor is bawdy and crass. Despite his resentment towards his brother, Danny has a strong sense of loyalty to his family.
The inspiration for Danny was the young actor from The Adventures of Merlin, Colin Morgan. Colin brought a good humor to a young Merlin, a boy with the fate of a king rested on his shoulders. A young man who was blessed by the gift of magic in a world where it has been outlawed. Colin played the character well, showing range of emotions, but always ending with an impish smile and a smart-ass remark.
I like Danny. He always brings the humor into the story. When writing dialog for Danny, I am usually laughing my ass off. It is with Danny that I use my experience working with sorority girls. Things they say that make me laugh, they way they talk, the slang they use, they inspire the humor found in the story.
I’ve also enjoyed watching Danny grow up through the story, letting go of his childish resentments, but taking his talents and translating them into something great.
If you would like to know more about the Characters, I will introduce you to Oliver Murray, November 18th on Amber Dalton's blog. http://www.amberdaultonauthor.blogspot.com or if you would like to know more about my inspiration, please go to my blog.
Thank you Janette for hosting!

Viktor!
Here are 7 more sentences from my work in progress. I'm thinking about saving this for a release for next Halloween! ENJOY!
"Viktor!” she called out in her joy of his company. She motioned to where she sat, with one of her hands. “Come over here, I want to talk to you."
He did not want to talk to her, but at any rate, he turned to face her. Still, he did not go to her. He merely stood and sent a cold stare to her, in hopes he would frighten her. He would make her think that he merely amused her with his time.

He did not want to talk to her, but at any rate, he turned to face her. Still, he did not go to her. He merely stood and sent a cold stare to her, in hopes he would frighten her. He would make her think that he merely amused her with his time.

MAJOR BUMMER!
I got an email from my publisher this morning. This is what she tells me about the 2nd two in my trilogy:
They will not be ready until December. That is the number in the cue.
the 2nd release for the end of the year.
I had originally thought (and told people) that the 2nd was expected out later this month with the THIRD to be out around the end of the year. :(

Cover Reveal!
Today I am proud to host a cover reveal of A HERO'S HEART for Amber Dalton!
Blurb:
Ten years ago, Jarrett Brandt left home and abandoned everyone of importance. After a hard reality check, the irresponsible young man matured into a ballsy DEA agent with a kickass Harley Davidson and a million-dollar bounty on his head. Ordered by his superior officer to take refuge at a safe house just days before Christmas, he headed back home to Washington State, instead, to make peace with his deceased brother’s memory.
Marissa Reinn Brandt never expected to see Jarrett again. Best friends since childhood and lovers as teenagers, immaturity, over-demanding parents and illicit drugs ripped them apart. Now a successful chef at a posh restaurant, the young widow and her son offered Jarrett a place to stay for the holiday. Even though she expected nothing from her former lover—the twin brother of the man she married—fate intervened.
As Jarrett and Marissa rekindled the flames of love and lust that once bound them together, an enemy from his past and a trusted mentor from his present vied their time in the snowy dark and threatened to destroy everyone he held dear. Needing a Christmas miracle to save his family, Jarrett needed the love of a good woman to save his battered heart. His second chance with Marissa meant the world to him and nothing, no one, would stand in his way of cherishing her for all time.
Excerpt:
Jarrett seethed. Ready to hit the highway on his Road King Classic and find a biker bar where he could bloody his knuckles, he turned and headed back toward the caretaker’s station. He reached the cracked sidewalk just as someone called out his name. His heart somersaulted as he flipped around. He’d know that voice anywhere. The woman who haunted his dreams skidded down the small hill in clunky shoes with damp auburn hair cascading around her shoulders. He expected her to stop a few feet from him just as his parents did but she jumped into his arms, instead, and knocked him back a few steps. She wrapped her arms around him. Her sweet scent filled his nostrils. He buried one hand in her curly hair and pressed her close to his chest with the other.
This one moment made the trip worth it.
“Marissa,” he breathed her name like a talisman. God, it felt so right to hold her again. She fit against him perfectly. Just a few inches under six feet, while he was a few inches over, their bodies meshed like a work of art. He should have married this woman, fathered children with her and lived his life to make her happy. Instead, he chose something just as intoxicating, just as beautiful to his ignorant mind, and abandoned her on the curb outside his family’s home. More than anything, he regretted that he’d left her behind.
Author Bio:
Amber Daulton lives in the beautiful foothills of North Carolina with her wonderful husband and their five crazy kitties. Writing takes up most of her time, aside from her day job in the retail industry. As a fan of contemporary, paranormal and historical novels alike, she can’t get enough of feisty heroines and alpha heroes. Her mind is a wonderland of romance and adventure, laughter and awesome ways of kicking a guy when he’s down. Writing is her passion and she probably wouldn’t be too sane without it. After all, what’s a girl to do when there are people jabbering away in her head and it’s hard to shut them up? Write! Nothing else works.

The Trees Grabbed Her!
Here are today's 7 sentences from my current paranormal work to keep you in suspense!
Her instinct for self-defense came alive and she spun around in the direction from whence she had come to race away from the beast. The old estate once more loomed in the visible distance, and she ran back to the domineering manor as fast as she could. Any fear or apprehension she ever experienced at its sight vanished.
The trees became alive and formed a terrifying barrier to prevent her escape from the orchard. Their skeletal limbs reached out for her and tore at her clothes. Her heart beat in her throat. It seemed to her, in her panicked race, that everything on this estate betrayed her.
ENJOY!

A DREAM?
Here are seven more sentences from my current work! ENJOY! My heroine just wants to get a good night's sleep.
Sasha napped intermittently for a couple hours more on Viktor’s bed, when suddenly his voice broke to her through the peaceful void of sleep. She jerked to attention; somehow he had issued another command to her, the same as he had about the basement. Only this time he informed her that she should not enter the orchard again tonight.
Her eyes popped open and her neck muscles bristled at the memory of his order in her dream. After a moment her brow smoothed and she exhaled a frustrated breath. Relax. It was just a dream. It had to have been a dream.
Do you think it was a dream?

The Doppelganger!
Good Morning, All!
Here are today's Seven Sunday Sentences to keep you all in suspense about the next romantic paranormal fantasy I plan to have out!
"Hello, Viktor.” She roved her gaze over their surroundings and back to him. “What brings you out to my favorite spot at this time of the night? I had assumed, by what you’ve told me, that I shouldn’t expect to see you at night. I thought you had plenty with which to keep yourself busy in the basement."
Being the greedy entity he was, it did not amuse the Doppelganger when the female mentioned the orchard as being her favorite spot. This spot belonged to him, not her.
ENJOY!

Today's Seven Suspenseful Sentences!
Here are today's 7 sentences from my current work. Here we see Sasha's been so busy acquainting herself with the mysteries of the old house she's imprisoned in, she's forgotten to feed herself!
A wave of hunger gnawed on Sasha's stomach. She changed her mind with thanks, when her body’s perfect excuse for her to leave the door behind, came. The basement and all its mysteries can wait for later. It is forbidden to me, anyway. I will go eat now and return to this locked door later. She shoved her way through the lifelike shadows, and entered the kitchen to prepare something for her dinner. I have not eaten more than a muffin all day!
ENJOY!

the latest happenings in the Harjo household!
I've been working on getting my momma transferred up here to Washington state from the nursing facility where she is in Louisiana. The paperwork's in progress and I am so excited to have her out here on the west coast near where her girls are who love her so much! I hope to have her out here before the end of the year!
It's been hard to concentrate on my writing with all the excitement I have! But I'm doing it!
What's all the excitement about in your life? :)

No Sunshine for Sasha!
Here are seven more sentences from my untitled work in progress to keep you in suspense until its release date (which is not known, yet).
In the previous weeks, we have been following this story’s heroine Sasha. She is a stranded traveler until a mysterious taxi arrives and takes her on her way to her destination, until a sudden snowstorm forces them to stop at his haunted home. Now she has no escape until the storm ends!
Her last sorry thought fueled her adrenalin and she boldly shoved the restless shadows to the side as she marched up the staircase to the bedroom. Its dark-red tapestry covered steps rambled before her in a haunted state of listless participation. A good night's sleep will probably be best for my host and me!
The expected bright light of day through the bedroom window did not greet her when she woke on the next morning. Sasha sat up in the bed; her heart filled with disappointment at the murky shades outside. She looked over to a bedside table and found her watch. The time it told upset her further.
ENJOY!

The Orchard
Hi All! It’s time again for my Sunday Seven Suspenseful Sentences! Let’s see where my current heroine is today and what suspense she faces, shall we?
Her heart warmed and it troubled her no longer whether or not her host cared for her. His attitude of indifference, which grated on her nerves in the large house, failed to annoy her in the orchard.
Self-confidence returned to her in full force as Sasha received a new sensation of her own strength. She assumed a self-assured pace through the ever-shifting shadows under the trees. Completely at one with herself and with everything that surrounded her in the orchard, the young woman lost all track of time. The ageless beauty of the trees enraptured her.
With the turbulence of her emotions thoroughly soothed, the time came as the sun set, she should return to the house to wait for Viktor’s nighttime appearance.
I hope I’ve left you in suspense!

Danica winters – Christmas Wishes!
Ms. Winters has crafted a whimsical tale of love and second chances in CHRISTMS WISHES.” Her charming tale transported me into a world where dreams and hopes for tomorrow do come true.
Danica’s addition of an innocent child to this tale of new-found love, where none existed, made the perfect compliment to her plot.
From her story’s bittersweet beginning to the happiness of its end, this short story is one that satisfies and is a MUST READ for anyone who wishes to find an uplifting short story about the miracles of Christmas. I definitely recommend it for an uplifting Christmas read.

The Water Runs!
Hi All!
It’s time for my Seven Suspenseful Sunday Sentences! I’ve got 7 more sentences here from my work in progress for y’all to enjoy!
Sasha gazed out the sink window at the unchanging wall of white, while she washed her breakfast dishes. The water pump handled with ease. It caused her to again wonder about the running water made available for her bath. Why does it run there, and not here? She chilled at the implications in this house of inexplicable circumstances. A restlessness beset her; she itched to run out the door. But where would I go?

Excerpt:
"It's because you go for the wrong type of guy," Brett said matter-of-factly, pouring a third shot down his throat. "Those muscle bound jocks are all bark and no bite. They look good on the outside, but they're a mess on the inside."
Amy threw a piece of ice at him and laughed. "And the goody two shoes, school teacher types you date are much better?"
"Nope." He grinned. "Which is why we're both still single."
She sighed. "Yeah, so much for my dream of having kids."
"You're young. I'm sure you'll find someone." He drank his last shot and chased it with his beer.
"I'm thirty, Brett. By the time I find a man, date him, and get married, I'll be an old hag with no viable eggs."
The thought of Amy finding a man to marry and have kids with didn't sit well with him. He couldn't stomach the thought of losing her. "I'll tell you what." He leaned across the table and pointed at her. "Three years from now, if neither of us are married, I'll marry you and give you as many babies as you want." Brett's words were slurred. Yup. He was definitely drunk. He wouldn't have made that proposition otherwise.
"Yeah right." Amy rolled her eyes. "You and me? That would be like fucking my brother. Thanks, but no thanks."
He flinched at her words. "You think of me as your brother?" That bothered him a lot more than it should, especially considering he'd never once thought of her as a sister.
She shrugged. "We're best friends. How else would I think of you?" Amy glanced away, and then set her gaze on him again. "Why? How do you think of me?"
Oh shit! He hadn't expected the conversation to backfire on him like that. What was he supposed to tell her? That he thought of her as a best friend that he wanted to fuck? No, he definitely couldn't tell her that. "As a friend, I guess. I don't know. It's not like I sit around and think about how I should think of you. You're Amy."
"And you're drunk."
"Maybe a little." He grinned. "So, do we have a deal or what?"

Romance through the mists of time and Love through the dimensions of reality
Wednesday, September 18, 2013
In order that we can to get to know you, as a person, a little better, why don’t you tell me about who you are? Do you like to travel? Do you like to try new things? How about exotic foods?
Kara: Honestly, I'm a very boring person. Lol. I'm a stay-at-home mom to five children, a husband, three cats, and two dogs. I spend my days reading, writing, and editing. When I'm not doing that, I'm spending time with my family and friends. I would love to travel, but childcare and finances limit my ability to do so. I'm always willing to try new things depending on what they are. I am so NOT an adrenaline junkie and I'm terrified of heights, so I will never try anything that involves bungee jumping or sky diving. As for exotic foods, I've very picky about what I eat, so, no.
Sharon: Janette, you picked two authors that aren't very adventuresome. Besides writing I love to cook and bake bread. I spend my spare time in the kitchen. I love flavorful foods but not what you'd call exotic, no snake or alligator for this girl. Both my husband and I traveled early on in our lives, for now we like to spend our time on the ground, not in a plane.
What aspect of who you are drew you into writing romance? How many novels have you written, and of those, how many have you sold?
Kara: I've always been fascinated by psychology, sociology, FBI profiling, and how men and women operate. I'm sure all of that played a large part in why I chose to write romance.
I've written and sold five erotic novellas; two full-length novels; and then Jilted, which isn't quite a novella and not quite a full-length novel. I do have several other novels in the works, but haven't attempted to sell any of them yet.
Sharon: I'm sappy, I love a happy-ever-after, so I write sweet romance. People get bruised but not dead in my books. Woops, that's a fib. In Halo's Wish her evil, temporary boss gets smashed by a John Deer tractor, but he deserved it.
I've written six short stories and one novella. My books are in three anthologies and I have two paperbacks. (Love Crazed and The Corny Myers Series)
As a full-time writer, how hard was it for you to get where you are today? Did it take long to reach that status? Were there a lot of rejections? Did they dishearten you? How long before that glorious call, or email (as it would be)? What would be your advice to new writers?
Kara: I'm probably going to get crucified for admitting this, but it didn't take me long to get where I am today. I started seriously writing in late 2011 and got my first contract in 2012. There are so many writers who struggle for years, so I know how lucky I was. Selling my novellas, which were my first things ever published, were easy to sell. It wasn't until I started shopping around my two full-length novels that I was hit hard with a lot of rejections. After having so much success early on, it was hard to face so many "no's."
My advice to new writers: keep writing no matter what and don't ever give up.
Sharon: In life, I believe timing is everything. At my first Romance Writers of America local chapter meeting I met my publisher. Jennifer Conner gave me my first contract and I've been with Books To Go Now ever since.
Is there a story or character you’ve written that is closer to your heart than the others? Why is it? Who is your favorite character or story someone else has created/written about? Do you have any real-life heroes?
Kara: Hmm, picking a favorite story and character is like picking a favorite child. lol. No, seriously, the book that is closest to my heart is Death of a Waterfall. It was the very first book I'd ever written and my heart breaks for the heroine, Teghan Jacobs. I was so mean to her, but I'm well on my way to making it up to her.
There are so many books I've read and loved. I don't think I can choose just one, but if I was forced to, it would have to be Aubrey from Ryan Winfield's The Park Service. He's a young boy that has been through so much yet he keeps persisting.
Sharon: Definitely Pete is close to my heart, Corny's ferret from The Corny Myers Series. He's a kook.
My real-life hero? My husband. I love him dearly.
There are those of us writers who are known as “Pansters, Puzzlers, Plotters, and Patch-workers. (And there could be others out there, too.) LOL! What type of writer would you say you are? Does your writing life allow you much time for a personal life?
Kara: I am a panster to a fault. I enjoy the freedom it allows. The thrill of experiencing the story with my characters is amazing. I've tried to plot a novel from beginning to end and once I did, I felt like I'd already told the story so there was no reason to actually write it. That particular novel still remains unfinished to this day.
As with everything, moderation is key, so yes, I allow time for a personal life. I have to or I'd go crazy. As much as I love writing, I need a break every now and then.
Sharon: : I agree Kara, I'd rather write the book than plot it all out ahead of time. I first decide on a title and then start from the beginning and write the book. I need music to write. I don’t like silence.
Tell me about your writing and your most recent release.
Kara: I write strictly in the romance genre, but have no issues branching out into all the sub-genres. Most of my books are erotic romances, but I do have a young adult romance and I'm working on a paranormal romance, too.
My most recent release, Jilted, is a friends to lovers story. Amy has had a secret crush on her best friend, Brett, for as long as she could remember. So, when he announces he's getting married to a woman he's known less than six months, Amy's devastated. Brett is jilted at the altar and Amy's there to pick up the pieces. It isn't until Brett convinces Amy to go on his honeymoon with him that their true feelings come out.
Sharon: I write some light paranormal romance and sweet romance.
Halo's Wish is a sweet, Christmas Romance between a pet detective in-training and a Veterinarian. They both have a love of animals and a sense of humor.
Is your next novel already thought out and ready to be written? How long does the planning on a new story take you before you are ready to begin work on it?
Kara: lol. No. I wait for an idea to hit, and then I just sit and start writing. Most of the time, I get inspiration in the form of a single scene or a snippet of dialogue and I build the story around that. Not much planning or plotting goes into any novel before I begin working on it.
Sharon: : Halo's Wish is book one in the Dreams Come True Series. I'm almost done with book two in the series and I'm feverishly working on book three. I'd like to have all of them released before Christmas.
When I get an idea I write it down on a sticky note, lots of sticky notes and then when I'm ready to write the story I try real hard to decipher my writing. Sometimes my husband has to help.
What are your genre preferences in reading? EBook or Hard Copy? Do you have any favorite authors that you admire?
Kara: I always gravitate toward romance, but I also enjoy a good horror or murder mystery. When reading, I prefer ebook simply because my Kindle fits nicely in my purse and I can carry it around easily. Also, I'm neurotic about the condition of my books and I hate to break the spines. Favorite authors…hmm, Ryan Winfield, Lora Leigh, Julie Ann Walker, Stephen King, and James Patterson.
Sharon: I'll read anything if I have the time. I get most of my books from the library, in print. I'd rather feel the paper in my hand. Romance, with thriller and humor aspects are my favorites though.
What other successes and accomplishments have you achieved during your lifetime?
Kara: I've graduated college – twice – both times with a 4.0 GPA. I was a member of my college's National Honor Society. My erotic novella, Never Date a Cop, skyrocketed to the #1 spot on Amazon's Free Erotica best sellers list. Oh, and my YA romance, The Georgia Corbins, has been nominated for a Romance Junkies Reader's Choice Award.
Sharon: That's probably the hardest question to answer. The only thing that truly stands out is my marriage to my husband Eric.
Where are your books sold, who are your publishers, and what are your contact URLs?
Kara: All of my books are sold on Amazon and almost all of them are also sold on Barnes & Noble, All Romance eBooks, Smashwords, and Kobo. Currently, I work with 4 different publishers: Books to Go Now, Entranced Publishing, Rogue Phoenix Press, and Cobblestone Press. I can be reached via my website: www.karaleighmiller.com. The Vampire Takes A Victim!
Here are another 7 sentences from my work in progress! This story delves a bit deeper into dark side of the paranormal. It deals with a household of cursed souls who have all fallen under the same curse. ENJOY!
Another had taken the bite meant for her. Viktor knew that it wasn't right for that poor soul, despicable as it was even to him, to have suffered the consequences. But the misshapen beast had fallen victim to the curse yet again. For that fact, Sasha lived to face another day with the undead souls that inhabited Viktor’s horrible household.
Viktor hated the memory of his teeth slowly being sunk into that grisly neck. He could still taste the creature’s rusty iron blood. It left a foul taste in his mouth.

Sasha's Emotional Drain
Hi All!
Here I am with my Sunday Seven! (Let's pretend this is yesterday for a few minutes.) :) It no doubt goes without saying that I have been rather
distracted due to the Press Release my Publisher gave to me. In these 7 Sasha, my heroine, tries to come to terms with the circumstance she finds herself in.
Oh. I am so tired. These past few days in this manor with Viktor, and everything else that I have dealt with, has drained me of all my strength.
Mental and physical fatigue both overwhelmed her. The constant battle of sentiments she waged with Viktor, and the extreme tension she endured because she
never knew exactly what to expect next, dried her exuberance for life. Through all her mental endeavors, she could find no possible explanation for
a human being to have such a large lack of compassion as Viktor. She dragged herself to the room where she slept, dressed down to her underclothes, slipped
under a thick comforter and closed her eyes for sleep...

What did she Touch?
Hi All!
Here are seven more sentences from my as yet untitled romantic paranormal suspense! In these sentences, the heroine is telling her host about a strange happening in his dark manor. :)
"...When I brought my hand down from the shelf, it hit on something hard. Not hard like a brick; it was solid, and hairy patches covered it. I jerked my hand away immediately!”
Her heart raced and she cringed with the memory. “But when I returned my hand to the location where I had felt it,” she narrowed her eyes and lowered her voice, “it was gone! Now, don't you think that rather strange?"
"Yes."
What would you do in this situation?
